DG NMST demanded applying technology in ETP monitoring in industrial plants
A seminar was held at the National Museum of Science and Technology-NMST on 'Effect of ETP Management on the Environment' with the students of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology-DUET. Deputy Director of Department of Environment Abul Kalam Azad presented the main paper in the seminar.
In addition, the professor of computer science and engineering department of DUET Dr. Md. Obaidur Rahman and Assistant Curator of NMST Md. Touhidul Hasan also spoke on the event
While speaking as the president at the seminar, Director General of NMST Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, "Whether the waste treatment equipment is being operated properly in industrial factories should be brought under 'proper monitoring'. For this, the application of modern technology based on artificial intelligence is essential”.
He also said that it is a deadly crime to destroy the rivers and agricultural land by keeping the ETP closed. These criminals should be brought to justice by the great creator for the loss of people and biodiversity due to pollution. By shutting down ETPs and dumping toxic industrial waste, many industrial plant owners have become car owners through unethical profits. Institutional capacity and use of modern technology are needed to stop these crimes. Many talented engineers have become slaves to the unethical practices of the owners by working in corporate companies. They are ceasing to run ETP out of conscience. Even getting clearance from Environment Department by submitting faulty EIA report.
Director General of NMST said that environmental pollution is a huge criminal world, which cannot be prevented by human power. Punitive measures should be taken by monitoring waste management activities using drones and sensors. Not only the fine, but parallel to the fine, the factory should be closed for a temporary period under the law. Engineering students should be given special training based on ETP management and they should be inculcated a sense of compassion and duty towards the environment by regular factory visits and river monitoring. Whatever crime he commits, everyone must answer to the Supreme Lord for his actions.”
